Faith Based Risks

Jesus calls us to reach out and be the difference when we see people in trouble. Most times it’s not because we are able, but because we know that if we step out and just do it, God will make the way. Sipho is sacrificing many physical comforts to give his all for the young people, the farm, and the community.

Young people come to us to join the workforce at the farm, and we sense the Lord prompting us to embrace these young people who are willing to work. They start each day with devotions before heading to their duties. Some have been clearing the new road, others are weeding or picking peas and other vegetables. They take turns cooking lunch and doing clean up. After work you will find them playing soccer and hanging out.

We trust God for their wages because He is asking us to make space for them when no one else can. Because they are getting paid, they can set goals, most have bought bicycles. The Bible study group of 18 organized a trip to a local dam, each paid their own way for the transport, boat ride, food, and more. Some are supporting others in their families. Fifteen to twenty regulars attend the Saturday youth meeting. Pray that each one will choose to follow Jesus.

We pray that every aspect of the farm – our crops, the children and youth, the pastors and visitors – will be a place of learning for those who will one day go to the nations with the Gospel. Nothing is impossible with God.

Footnote:  Sadly, in December, Amos, one of these young farm workers died. He had opened up his heart to the Lord at summer camp. He came from a family that follows traditional religion. In December, Amos became seriously ill. Even though medical help was given he passed away of a serious lung disease. Amazingly his death has united the youth group. His heathen family allowed Sipho and the local church to lead the funeral and memorial service. Pray that this loss will bring his family and other families in the community face to face with the love of the true God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
